MED ALLOY TIMING PLATE - MINI
Description
The MED aluminium timing plate saves on weight and uses M6 studs instead of the 1/4-inch UNF threaded holes, so there is no fear of the threads stripping.
The plate also reduces the chance of oil leaks compared to a tired old standard version, especially when fitted alonside the MED Cam Timing Cover.
Please note - the timing gears may need to be realigned when the alloy timing plate is fitted, as the width may vary to your standard timing plate.
If using our CPS sensor kit for engine management and the standard timing cover, an adapter will be needed. Please contact us for further information.
This will not fit inline engines, only transverse Mini/Metro.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this suit all A-Series engines?
No, it is only designed for the Mini/Metro transverse engine, as the inline (Sprite, Midget etc) have an engine mount that bolts to the standard timing plate. However it will fit all types of A-Series Mini, 1959-2000.
What is the benefit of this plate over standard?
It's lighter and comes with studs rather than tapped threads, which have a tendency to strip quite easily. The standard plates can also corrode and warp, making oil leaks difficult to fix. They also look smart!
Will this work with a standard timing cover?
Yes it'll work with the MED timing cover, or any standard cover, including the A+ style with the chain tensioner inside.
What size are the fixings?
The studs are M6. We would recommend using a thin-wall 10mm socket on the supplied nuts.
Do I need any gaskets with this plate?
Yes you will still need to use the standard timing cover gasket and engine block to back plate gasket, as standard.
