Description

Motorsport-grade main bearings that are well suited our range of steel crankshafts. These are more heavy duty than the ACL Duraglide 780 range of bearings, thanks to an extra heat treatment process.

There are options to suit 1275 A-plus engines with 1.750" big ends in standard and +10 sizes.

For Cooper S, Sprite/Midget and 998 engines with 1.625" big ends, select the Cooper S/998 option, also in standard or +10 sizes.

We also list bearings specifically for the MED Multiweb crankshaft, which runs a large-diameter narrow-width journal.

Additional Information

We can supply standard size or 0.010" oversize for reground crankshafts. If you require an alternative size, please contact us for availability.

Bearing Finish
The final operation in the manufacture of ACL Race Series engine bearings is electroplating. In this operation, the bearing appearance changes to a dark tarnished colour which can vary from black / brown / blue / copper.

This colouration is restricted to the surface atoms and has no effect on bearing performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of ACL Race bearings over the 'standard' 780 Duraglide?

Arrow

The Race Series are made to exactly the same high standards, but with an extra heat treatment process, which makes them harder wearing. They are particularly well suited to use with EN40B steel cranks, or within any high-rpm A-Series engine.

Which bearings do I need?

Arrow

We keep three base sizes, with 0.010" oversize versions if your crankshaft has been reground. 1275 non-Cooper S engines all had 1.750" diameter big end journals, whereas Cooper S and 998 engines had 1.625". The Multiweb option only suits the MED Multiweb crankshaft design.

What is the equivalent part number for these bearings?

Arrow

ACL lists the 1275 big ends as 4B2206 and Cooper S/998 as 4B2201.

Can you supply in-between or non-standard sizes to suit my crankshaft?

Arrow

No, you'll need to have your crankshaft machined to the correct size if the journals are worn out of tolerance, rather than try to size bearings to suit. Unfortunately it's not feasible to have custom bearings produced.

My crankshaft has already been reground by 0.010 and is worn again - can you supply larger sizes?

Arrow

Sorry but ACL only makes the Race Series in standard and +0.010" sizes. If you need +0.020 or more, we keep these in the ACL Duraglide 780 design.
