Description
A complete transmission gasket set for either the rod or remote type Mini/Metro gearbox.
Suitable for all gearbox rebuilds, from standard road helical gearsets to full competition MED dog engagement setups.
For competition usage, we would highly recommend upgrading the main engine-to-gearbox gaskets for an MED 5/16" fixings conversion.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which transmissions does this gasket set suit?
All classic Mini/Metro manual gearboxes, including early 'magic wand' type, remote and rod change. There are some gaskets you may not need, as there is some degree of crossover.
What else will I need to rebuild my Mini's gearbox?
The set does not include output shaft oil seals or a primary gear clutch oil seal. We keep both of these items separately. You may also need the usual rebuild items such as bearings, baulk rings, shafts, a sump plug, synchro hub etc. If you'd like a comprehensive kit, we do offer a complete gearbox rebuild set.
My differential cover did not have gaskets fitted as standard - do I need to fit them?
No, if the diff cover was sealed with RTV by the factory, do not use the differential housing gaskets, as these were only used on the earlier transmissions. Do not go heavy on sealant here, as it can cause more damage than good. The output shaft covers will still need a gasket on each side.
Why are there more block-to-gearbox gaskets than required?
These will vary depending on the transmission type, so we have included both shapes to cover all bases.
Are these high quality gaskets?
Yes, we've used them for many years on our own builds, and customer engines when we were building A-Series engines every day. They work very well.
