Frequently Asked Questions
What is this timing disc for?
It allows you to correctly time the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft on your A-Series engine, for perfect setup when using offset woodruff keys or an adjustable timing gear.
Can I use it more than once?
Yes, it will last for years if you store it carefully.
How does it fit to the engine?
This bolts on the end of the crankshaft, fixed in place with the pulley bolt. You will need to fix some kind of pointer to the engine as a reference; just a simple homemade solution will do the trick.
How do I check the timing?
With your makeshift pointer attached to a nearby bolt, rotate the engine to TDC on cylinder number one. Rotate the disc so that the timing pointer is set to zero. Attach a DTI gauge to a pushrod and turn the engine until full lift is shown. Note the number of degrees on the timing disc, continue to turn the engine and note when lift starts to reduce. The timing figure will be at the midway point.
