Description

The bolt is CNC machined from stock EN24T steel with extra attention to the radius under the head to maximise strength.

After machining, the bolt is then heat treated to 'X' condition for maximum strength.

To complete the kit we CNC machine the key washer from the same EN24T steel, which is then heat treated for extra strength.

Fitting instructions

1. Install bolt and keyway washer to the crankshaft.

2. Lock engine using your preferred method.

3. Torque bolt to 130lb/ft, to seat flywheel on the crankshaft taper.

4. Undo the bolt.

5. Apply 27-01 thread lock and torque to 130lb/ft.

Frequently Asked Questions

What thread size is this bolt?

It's the standard crankshaft thread, 5/8" x 16 tpi Whitworth.

Will this suit all Mini crankshafts?

Yes, but before installing the flywheel, check that the bolt does not bottom-out on the thread, or more importantly that there is no swarf or damage inside that may otherwise affect fitment. If the bolt feels too tight on the thread, inspect the crankshaft thread before continuing.

Will this suit all classic Mini flywheels?

No, only the early style flywheel design, often referred to as 'pre-Verto'. Verto was introduced in the early 1980s and has a separate centre boss that attaches to the clutch cover. We also keep a bolt and washer to suit the Verto flywheel.
