Our crank position sensor (CPS) kit includes both a billet aluminium bracket mount and a high quality sensor.
This is an essential kit for anyone upgrading to an engine management system, ignition-only or fuel injection. The two-pin sensor works with the vast majority of aftermarket ECU systems.
We keep either Magnetti Marelli or Webcon sensors depending on availability, often referenced as SEN8D
Kit contents:
- Magneti Marelli or Webcon crank position sensor
- MED black crank position sensor bracket
- All fixings required
We also produce a Crankshaft Damper Kit with integral 36:1 trigger wheel teeth.
If you have an MED Belt Drive Conversion or MED cam timing cover, look instead at the Belt Drive CPS kit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does this fit on an A-Series engine?

This kit bolts to the lower edge of the standard A-Series (and A+) timing cover. If you check the pictures above, there's one of the bracket fitted in situ.
What else will I need to use this?

Aside from the obvious need for an ECU and appropriate wiring loom (try searching for MED-5950-DTA), this kit is designed to work alongside the MED management pulley, with 36:1 tooth pattern.
What type of wiring connection does the crank position sensor have?

This is a two-pin junior timer plug - one of the most common crank position sensor connections for aftermarket ECUs. Check that your ECU is compatible with a two-pin VR (Variable Reluctance) sensor.
How big should the gap be between the crankshaft pulley and the end of the sensor?

Check that this is between 0.5mm and 0.9mm. This should line up perfectly with the MED management pulley as supplied, but do check, as an incorrect gap here can cause running issues.
What size tools do I need for the fixings?

The cap head screws are metric (M5x0.5x12mm) and use a 4mm hex key, while the two larger screws need a 7/16" and 1/2" AF socket/spanner.
Can you supply the crank position sensor on its own?

Yes, please search for MED-5960-CPS if you'd like a spare sensor.
