SPIGOT BEARING - 1ST MOTION SHAFT
Description
Quality spigot/pilot bearing, as used on all transmissions here at MED.
These support the end of the first motion shaft in the transfer housing; replacement during a rebuild is highly recommended.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the spigot bearing fit?
Also known as the pilot bearing, this presses on to the end of the first motion shaft, after the input gear is fitted. The outer race sits in the transfer gear housing.
Will this fit all classic Mini gearboxes?
Yes it will, including dog engagement race gear sets. The only exception is the Metro Turbo, which had a larger diameter bearing fitted as standard. The gearbox will be the same, but the transfer housing is different. These bearings are very scarce so you may need to find a regular transfer housing and use one of these bearings instead.
What brand of bearing is this?
We only supply premium brand bearings that we would use in our own cars. Typically we use RHP for the spigot bearing.
What is the original Rover part number for this bearing?
This is equivalent to AAU8424.
Can I re-use the old outer race to avoid trying to remove it from the transfer housing?
No, the bearing comes with a matched inner/outer race and must be fitted as one unit.
